Bible Personalities: Queen Esther

A dire and dangerous plot had emerged. Through a diabolic scheme, the Jews in Persia were secretly condemned to a dreadful death. Mordecai pleaded with Queen Esther to fearlessly risk her life: "If you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" (Esther 4:14).

Esther set a remarkable example of personal sacrifice and personal faith. Although she was hesitant at first, she willingly and courageously risked her life so others could be saved. The account of Esther transcends time and culture. The situation she faced still applies and teaches invaluable spiritual lessons for us all. Read a more complete overview at:
